Actually, we got back to Ann Arbor on Sunday at 4:00am, but I had a friend in town and I spent the day with him. I just can’t seem to find a way to blog when I’m travelling, so I’ll have to do a multi-part update to my travels.
The first leg of the trip was a 14-hour drive to Boston to visit (the indomitable, unflappable and sadomasochism-curious) Mike and Brandi. I had met their daughter, Sydney, when she was football-sized and bald. Now she talks and she might as well start paying Hello Kitty royalties because every word out of her mouth is dripping with cuteness. I also got to meet Aiden and Alex (baby, not labmate). Apparently, Mike has extra strength sperm because Aiden and Alex are fraternal twins. Three cheers for Mike’s balls!
Aiden and Alex are starting to take after their sister in the cuteness, but get sidetracked in this mission by the satisfying act of screaming their heads off. Yeah, teething is a bitch. Aiden is inadvertantly hilarious. So, I’m holding Aiden while standing next to Katie. He’s looking at me and has a firm grip on my eyebrow. Katie leans in and touches his nose with her nose which delights Aiden to no end. He looks at me and wants to do the same and, of course, I oblige. Like I said, cute kid. Unfortunately, Aiden has not learned the social norms of facial expressions because when he leans in for a nose-nuzzle, he tilts his head back and to the side ever-so slightly. His mouth is a bit ajar and his eyes are halfway closed in the dreamy expression of someone comming in to slip you the tongue. All of the sudden, nose-nuzzling with a toddler got a bit creepy.
I’ll comment on the food in a short while. PLUS! Constipation and pictures! (not necessarily related)
Stay tuned.
