Till the day I retire
I begin work at Intellectual Property Insurance and Services Corp. on Monday, June 16th at 9:00 am sharp. Me = excited.
My main duty will be evaluating intellectual property for its risk of litigation and infringement. Trust me, the job is a lot better than it sounds. In order to evaluate IP risk, one must first understand the underlying technology. This means that my desk will have a constant flux of new technology flowing across it.
I met with the company yesterday to discuss various things, including my XT Profile, which I will be commenting on soon. There are so many things different about industry from grad school. ok, ok…Mr. Obvious = me. The thing that struck me as the most divergent, that is the element I will ahve to work hardest to adjust to is the 30 minute flex time (in between 8:30 and 9, out between 5 and 5:30). Graduate schools has, shall we say, a 24-hour flex time in that you can ignore at your leisure. I think I might end up liking the stricter schedule, but it will certainly be and adjustment.
